At Comeval Valve Systems, we continue to consolidate our position as trusted technology partners in major water infrastructure projects. We have recently successfully completed the supply of a set of double-eccentric butterfly valves designed to optimise the conveyance systems of a reservoir, an environment where operational safety and absolute control of the water are paramount. For this project, we have configured equipment in three critical size ranges, supplying units with diameters of DN1400, DN1200 and DN700, all of which are tailored to the installation’s specific flow and pressure requirements.
Critical functions of valves in reservoirs
In large reservoirs, butterfly valves perform vital functions for public safety and the management of water resources. This equipment is responsible for precisely regulating the water sent to distribution channels, controlling bottom intakes and managing the drainage systems required to release water in a controlled manner during floods or emergencies. Furthermore, they act as safety isolation devices, allowing sections of pipework to be isolated so that maintenance work can be carried out on the dam without interrupting the general water supply.
Double-eccentric technology
Our range of double-flanged, double-eccentric butterfly valves reliably meets these stringent requirements. Their double-eccentricity design offsets the axis of rotation relative to the seat, which drastically reduces friction during opening and closing. This results in minimal wear on components, a stable operating torque over the years and a bidirectional leak-tight seal that prevents any leakage under massive water columns.
Maximum safety automation with Bernard actuators
The automation of these units is equally critical, as the safety of a reservoir depends on a rapid and reliable response. For this reason, all the equipment has been fitted with Bernard Controls electric actuators. These industrial actuators provide millimetre-precise flow regulation and seamless integration with the dam’s centralised control system. The combination of our valves’ smooth operation with the motor’s controlled torque ensures safe manoeuvres, protecting the pipework against water hammer.
