Thermal solar power plants are a renewable energy source which are quite fashionable as alternative sources to oil so many utilities are being built up to generate electricity, specially on those oil dependent countries.
Solar power plants consists of two well diverse areas: the solar field and the Bay of Power (B.O.P). The parabolic through mirror panels are located at the solar field, the reflecting mirrors are addressing the heat from the sun rays to the heat transfer fluid pipe work arranged across them thus obtaining a heating fluid at 300ºC, this HTF heats the water to generate steam at the B.O.P where the end turbine is placed. This is the actual electricity generating point. An intermediate process of molten salts store the day heat to keep on generating power along the nigh or during non sunny days.
COMEVAL is highly specialised on the selection and supply of valves for these thermal solar power plants and have actively participated in diverse contracts by prime Spanish contractors. The HTF loops are fitted with below sealed globe valves in wrought or cast steel material and welded ends and minimum rating of 600# to ensure a perfect sealing and atmospheric tightness as well as avoid maintenance tasks. Our valves series BY-45099 are proving to be excellent performers on this application.
